Kilim.
On the Design:
Admirers of the craft may note the influence of vintage and antique Persian rugs in this design, where a keen eye may note an almost minimalist approach to the Herati-style floral pattern in the field’s repeat. A light blue field and cream white border underscore both these and other colorful floral patterns of a particular oriental sensibility—lent a revitalized and playful contemporary look in a most unexpected way to look at important classics like those of this sensibility. The especially soft, comfortable texture and impressionistic beauty inherent to the Ghazni wool is another contemporary element of note, and the soul of this collection therein; an intentional contribution to a classic for a comfortable, yet smart and sophisticated new language in design.
