This contemporary 6x8 Dhurrie flat weave is an exciting new entry in Rug
Kilim’s esteemed custom-capable collection. Handwoven in cotton, it’s a modern take on antique and vintage Dhurrie flatweaves by one of the best partner looms in our craft, specifically led by a devoted collector and student of these Dhurries whose collaboration has allowed us to make the most meaningful contribution to the style.
On the Design:
Admirers of the craft will appreciate this piece as a fabulous reinvention of the style in such light, dreamy colors, in which pastels and cotton candy hues of light blue, pink and creamy white tones underscore an equally playful geometric pattern. Keen eyes will admire the motifs in the field look to be large, minimalist cartouches, while the border is a Greek key—though this latch-hook-style border has many interpretations across all weaving cultures. It is both a thoughtful nod to classic dhurries and a fabulous revival of the style with refreshing new brilliance.
