Handwoven in cotton, it’s a modern take on antique and vintage Dhurrie flatweaves by one of the best partner looms in our craft, specifically led by a devoted collector and student of these Dhurries whose collaboration has allowed us to make the most meaningful contribution to the style.
On the Design:
Brick red and bright white tones underscore a simple, minimalist play of stripes and geometric patterns. Admirers of the craft will note subtle border motifs, which resemble a geometric interpretation of cypress trees in an almost ikats style—a playful new take on a classic befitting this piece’s reimagination of a celebrated Indian rug style. Keen eyes will further admire the subtle look of abrashed patina and striation within the stripes—an intricate and thoughtful revival of the classic look of Kilims and similar pieces brought to a more livable, modern quality.
