Kilim is a new addition to the French Art Deco rug collection—a contemporary ode to the 1920s style moderne, geometric patterns inspired by some of the most iconic period pieces of the movement.
On the Design:
Tones of beige-brown, green, light blue and cream underscore geometric patterns with a particular influence from Da Silva Bruhns-style rectilinear designs, as bold and unexpected in the 1920s as they are chic in this revival of the sensibility. Keen eyes and admirers of the craft will note the refined texture and sharp drawing adapted to this large scale, beautifully recapturing the sense of depth and graphic beauty of this European movement in a modern, luxury quality. Each geometric compartment contains internal motifs that suggest Art Deco ornamental vocabularies abstracted to their essential geometric core.
The alternating scale between circular and rectangular elements creates visual rhythm that prevents monotonous repetition while maintaining the overall compositional unity fundamental to successful pattern design.
