Kilim’s Burano Collection. This piece is profoundly inspired by Mid-Century Turkish and Anatolian tribal rugs, capturing the era's shift toward honest tribal geometry and saturated color.
On the Design:
This rug is a brilliant study in simplified power, showcasing the raw, expressive beauty of Anatolian tribal art. The central field is dominated by a rich, variegated berry-red hue that anchors the entire composition. At the heart of the design sits a single, arresting geometric blossom—a complex, layered medallion rendered primarily in clear light blue/gray and accented with pops of yellow and cream.
This powerful central form is surrounded by highly stylized, primitive motifs, including abstract candelabra-like figures and small tribal symbols. The clarity and spacing of the motifs are typical of the bold aesthetic that emerged in mid-century Turkish weaving. The field is bordered by rhythmic geometric bands.
