About the Item

Hand-knotted in wool and silk, this 8x10 modern rug is a bold addition to the Block Print line of Rug Kilim’s Modern Classics Collection—a sophisticated and elegant new approach to a historic style. On the Design: Gold, beige and cream hues with an overall copper tone underscore a repeat of geometric patterns in cream tones. Though this form represents a more minimalist approach, admirers of the craft and keen eyes will note inspiration from the paisley floral pattern and the many provenances known for repeating it in dense, deftly woven designs as this—a thoughtful and elegant new take on a traditional look. The block printing process is one of the oldest in textile design and has seen many adaptations. To wit, many of our designs draw on time-honored, even archaic designs, such as 17th-century Mogul rug patterns that allow admirers of the craft to make their own personal connection. Some of our contributions to the aesthetic include a subtle high-low texture for an added sense of dimension, a wool-and-silk blend that creates a more elegant play of the light, and a wider range of vibrant, contemporary colors that brighten and enrich a room.
