On the Design:
Each piece in this collection is a unique reimagining of traditional designs and antique rugs in one of the most luxurious new qualities and high knot counts available today. This particular rug—entitled “Khatam”—a word with many cultural interpretations, which in Persian often refers to the pinnacle of achievement—enjoys ebony black underscoring geometric patterns in a play of orange, gray, and white tones, which marry medallion and all over style in a whole new level of intricacy. This particular design has such a fine drawing and execution in its large scale that admirers of the craft and keen eyes can’t help but study its kaleidoscopic detail. No other contemporary rug has truly approached this finesse in the same fashion, and the result is both a beautiful work of graphic depth and among the finest of this new collection.
