Kilim’s Moroccan rug collection is a bold contemporary reimagining of the primitivist Berber tradition, hand-knotted in a luxurious blend of wool and silk. The design features an all-over mosaic that forms a dramatic color gradient, fading from deep terracotta and russet into ivory and natural tan.
On the Design:
This rug is a captivating visual experience, an abstract composition of fragmented color and dynamic texture that transforms the floor plane into a shifting mosaic of warm light. Crafted from a luxurious blend of hand-knotted wool and luminous silk, the design uses countless small blocks to create a powerful color gradient.
The pattern is a masterful optical study in saturation, defined by an all-over motif of small, rectangular blocks in a striking dual-tone palette. The blocks of deep terracotta, russet, and bright coral densely populate the top of the rug, gradually and dramatically fading into blocks of creamy beige and natural tan toward the bottom. This intense, gradient effect creates visual movement, as if the pattern is dissolving or emerging from the neutral ground. The silk content ensures the light areas shimmer, contrasting beautifully with the dense, matte wool.
