About the Item

Made with hand-knotted wool, this beautiful 10x14 rug is an exciting new addition to Rug Kilim’s custom-classics Burano Collection, inspired by the most iconic tribal rug styles in history. This piece is a bold, contemporary reimagining of the elegant, large-scale beauty of traditional Oushak rugs. On the Design: In this piece, beige, cream, and orange tones underscore bold, large-scale floral patterns in the field and border alike—a rich, warm palette that recaptures the elegant, feminine look of an Oushak in a fresh new fashion. The design favors spaciousness, allowing the creamy field to breathe around the central medallion and oversized floral sprays, which bloom in soft terracotta and beige-brown. Some of the floral patterns in particular are inspired by the "crab" palmette style, known to grace a few different provenances but particularly whimsical to see in the Oushak style, as the Oushaks were often an eclectic combination of regal-yet-informal design elements that made them so unique. The weaving technique further complements the old-world look of the pattern, while it still enjoys a high-quality, luxury construction, both durable and comfortable in any space. These and many other beauties mark a thoughtful and inventive contribution to the rustic, old-world charm and transitional whimsy of Oushak rugs that distinguishes them from other traditional Oriental rug provenances.
