About the Item

Made with hand-knotted wool and silk, this 12x20 custom rug design is an exciting new representation of the Block Print line in Rug Kilim’s Modern Classics Collection—a sophisticated and elegant new approach to a historic style. On the Design: These photos represent a recently sold 12x20 oversized rug, in which a green field underscores blue and light green floral patterns in the all over style, and where keen eyes will note a high-and-low texture married to each pattern—an element of dimensionality that lends a gorgeous compliment to the sense of movement and depth. The silk’s natural sheen, too, compliments these elements in the unique play of the light it creates in any space; a gentle luster as luxurious to the eye as its texture is to the touch, inviting both from any perspective. The block printing process is one of the oldest in textile design and has seen many adaptations. To wit, our designs draw on time-honored, even archaic designs, such as 17th-century Mogul rug patterns that allow admirers of the craft to recreate old-world charm within any space.
