Kilim’s Scandinavian rug collection. This piece honors the Carpet Design Awards winner “Marta Stripe” and reinvents it with a contemporary, pile-rug take on an iconic mid-century modern Swedish aesthetic. It connotes sophisticated Nordic sensibilities with a rhythmic, vertical folk pattern flourishing in a rich palette of gold, ochre, and warm tan.
On the Design:
This Scandinavian rug features a unique, structured verticality composed of repeating dash motifs that draw from the functional symmetry of mid-century folk art. The design is a new edition of our award-winning “Marta Stripe,” named in honor of one of the mothers of Scandinavian style, Märta Måås-Fjetterström, who inspired this collection. Elongated columns are separated by delicate, sawtooth linear accents in deep navy and terracotta, providing a sharp, architectural rhythm to the warm golden ground.
Connoisseurs will admire the use of New Zealand wool, which creates a fine, luminous striae and subtle color variation, an effect that honors the painterly depth of historic Rya rugs.
