About the Item
This 4x6 rug is a new addition to Rug
Kilim’s award-winning Scandinavian rug collection. Made with handwoven wool, its design is inspired by mid-century Swedish minimalist textile designs of the Rollakhan and Rya weaving traditions.
On the Design:
This new Swedish flatweave is from the “Nu” line of this flatweave collection, which enjoys a boucle-like texture of handwoven wool, and a warm look both impressionistic and comfortable compared to the cool tones of Scandinavian provenance. Keen eyes will admire the subdued look of striae and subtle color variation, and the sense of movement they create. This Kilim exemplifies that principle with geometric patterns in ochre, golden-yellow, cream, and charcoal—an earthy, sun-drenched approach to an iconic aesthetic.
The large-scale checkerboard pattern is anchored by delicate stipple-effect borders and floating charcoal dashes that provide a sophisticated architectural rhythm. Our modern flatweave further enjoys our reputed, heavier body with buckle resistance and greater durability against foot traffic. A comfortable, sophisticated contribution to the Swedish Deco aesthetic that both innovates and honors mid-century Scandinavian rugs.
