Handwoven in a blend of wool and undyed natural yarns, this 4x13 runner is from the contemporary flatweaves in Rug
Kilim’s Scandinavian rug collection—its design is inspired by mid-century Swedish minimalist rug and textile designs of the Rollakhan and Rya weaving traditions.
On the Design:
This runner enjoys a profoundly minimalist geometric pattern set against a comfortable, neutral field, subtly accented with repeating horizontal rows of square and dash motifs. This design draws inspiration from the Swedish minimalist movement and its works from 1919 Bastad well into the mid-century, adapted in such a beautifully minimalist fashion that, uniquely, remains as contemporary in its beauty today as it was in the days of Märta Måås-Fjetterström and the icons of her period.
Keen eyes will admire the use of purely natural yarns interwoven for a look of striae and subtle color variation, lending the surface an organic, luminous depth without the use of dyes. This proprietary technique of ours both innovates and honors mid-century weaving techniques inherent to Scandinavian style, ensuring the design’s purity is matched by its quality. This modern flatweave further enjoys our reputed, heavier body with buckle resistance and greater durability against foot traffic.
