This 8x10 Swedish Kilim rug design is from the flatweaves in the Scandinavian rug collection by Rug
Kilim. Handwoven in wool, its design is inspired by Rollakhan and Rya rugs in the Swedish Deco style.
On the Design:
This new flat weave reinvents vintage Scandinavian Kilim in ways that both honor the Swedish minimalist aesthetic and modernize its construction. Our use of undyed natural yarns, for example, lends a subtle striae with more of a sense of movement and depth—a subtle nod to Rollakan techniques in a modern fashion. The choice of colors, too, explores their retro feel in a more refreshing quality. This particular Kilim enjoys hourglass patterns in green and blue on a beige background with various playful accents. It’s a thoughtful use of distinct, yet complementary hues that lends mid-century chic a fabulous new look and feel.
Our flat weave further enjoys a thick, more durable body than any flat weave in high-end rugs. It’s a hallmark of our Kilim design, and another contemporary contribution to the Scandinavian aesthetic that sits comfortably anywhere.
