Kilim’s Scandinavian Collection, this 9×12 rug is handwoven in a new flat weave construction using a blend of wool and exotic yarns–the soft new texture inspired by alpaca yarns. Its design is a new edition of our Carpet Design Awards winning “Marta Stripe'' series— a contemporary take on an iconic mid-century modern Swedish aesthetic.
On the design:
This design enjoys various blue tones underscoring a play of stripes and geometric patterns in an all over style. Admirers of the craft will note “Marta Stripe” is named in honor of one of the mothers of Scandinavian style, Märta Måås-Fjetterström, who inspired this collection. Admirers of the craft may admire its technique and look while meaningfully drawing on Scandinavian principles and weaving techniques—which are both entirely unique to our flat weave and custom production for a modern approach. Our flat weave further enjoys a thick, more durable body with a beautifully soft texture. It’s a hallmark of our Kilim design, and another contemporary contribution to the Scandinavian aesthetic that sits comfortably anywhere.
