This 9x12 contemporary rug design is an exciting new flatweave in the Scandinavian rug collection by Rug
Kilim. Handwoven in wool, its minimalist design is inspired by Rollakhan and Rya rugs in the Swedish Deco style.
On the Design:
This new flat weave reinvents vintage Scandinavian Kilim in ways that both honor the Swedish minimalist aesthetic and modernize its construction. The design employs a dynamic arrangement of jagged, sawtooth forms creating interlocking positive-negative patterns in an all over style. Our use of quality wool lends a subtle striae with more of a sense of movement and depth—a subtle nod to Rollakan techniques in a modern fashion.
The choice of colors, too, explores their retro feel in a more refreshing quality. This particular flatweave features charcoal gray, white and mauve purple tones underscoring serrated geometric patterns with a fun, funky look. Our flat weave further enjoys a thick, more durable body than any flat weave in high-end rugs. It’s a hallmark of our Kilim design, and another contemporary contribution to the Scandinavian aesthetic that sits comfortably anywhere.
