Kilim is inspired by turn-of-the-century antique tribal rugs of the Yomut (Yomud) provenance.
On the Design:
Admirers of the craft may further note this particular rug draws influence from ensi rugs—a particular Turkmen (Turkoman) design known for this cruciform style (the four-way-divided center)—complex and gorgeous works of art usually found in smaller sizes. This particular piece enjoys brick and salmon red underscores, with navy blue and off-white accents in the many geometric patterns and floral motifs of field and border alike. Keen eyes for the tactile will further appreciate an especially soft, comfortable texture and beauty inherent to the Ghazni wool that underscores this piece.
