Hand-knotted in wool and originating circa 1960-1970, this 4x7 vintage rug is both rare and extremely collectible as one of Müren’s signature pieces and as a full-pile piece found in its original great condition today
On the Design:
Admirers of the craft will appreciate this vintage rug for its whimsical yet smart sensibilities, in the most exceptional color and a great size suited to wider spaces—as versatile for interior design as it is collectible for admirers of this provenance. Keen eyes may admire the signature in the respective corners—-“Mineli Kosk” is a series by Müren and one of the only remaining works of it we know today. The title “Mineli Kosk” loosely translates to “Enameled Mansion” in English, though Mineli is also a name in several cultures, subject to interpretation. This is a piece of history as much as a gorgeous one-of-a-kind work of art—exemplary of Müren’s playful, unexpected designs and the unique approach to mid-century modern aesthetics that would become one of his hallmarks coveted today. Dark, almost midnight blue tones underscore a vibrant series of floral patterns. Connoisseurs may further note that this is rare also for its absence of distress, a rare full pile and playful sense of movement and the transitional sense of life this piece breathes into more traditional patterns.

This signed vintage Zeki Múren rug further enjoys good condition for its age and origin, and is rare for its construction in full pile.
