About the Item

This antique Indian Agra runner has a burgundy-red field with a column of ivory, pink and sandy-brown rosettes and palmettes surrounded and linked by scrolling floral and leafy vine, similar part palmettes at each side, in a sea-blue border of burgundy-red and pink rosettes alternating with moss-green cartouches each containing floral sprays between moss-green polychrome minor panel and plain ivory and moss-green stripes, plain outer burgundy-red broad stripe. Agra rugs, originating from the city of Agra in northern India, are renowned for their intricate designs and high-quality craftsmanship. Traditionally woven from fine wool or silk, these rugs feature patterns inspired by Persian and Mughal art, often incorporating floral motifs, medallions, and elaborate borders.
