This 10x14 rug is a rare vintage Dhurrie rug from an exciting new mid-century curation by Rug
Kilim. Handwoven in a cotton flatweave, it originates from India circa 1950-1960, and enjoys animal pictorials on a cream field with blue border.
On the Design:
Admirers of the craft will note this piece as extremely collectible—among rare large-size Indian Dhurries from this period. It hosts a cream field and blue border underscore one of the most varied array of pictorial patterns we’ve seen in a rug—even a Dhurrie where this style can be found slightly more abundant than other provenances. Horses, monkeys, birds and camels make up some of the depictions in vibrant colors, centered beautifully and enjoying the most playful presence. It’s a work of warm, welcoming playful presence and smart balance alike, with vast design applications today.
