This 4x6 vintage Dhurrie rug is an exciting new curation from Rug
Kilim’s latest acquisition of rare and exemplary mid-century flatweaves of the same style. Handwoven in cotton, it originates from India circa 1950-1960.
On the Design:
Black and white tones underscore a simple, minimalist play of stripes and geometric patterns. Admirers of the craft will also note motifs on the field, which resemble a geometric interpretation of cypress trees in an almost ikats style—a playful new take on a classic befitting this piece’s reimagination of a celebrated Indian rug style. Keen eyes will further admire the subtle look of abrashed patina and striation within the stripes—an intricate and thoughtful revival of the classic look of Kilims and similar pieces brought to a more livable, modern quality.
