This 2x2 vintage Indian textile and square tapestry is from an exceptional new curation in Rug
Kilim’s Tapestry
Textile Collection—an intriguing find in Oriental wall-hanging pieces with a playful series of pictorials and floral patterns—made with handwoven silk and believed to originate from India circa 1970-1980.
On the Design:
A deliciously saturated, bright red field of coral tones underscores the embroidered floral patterns and pictorials, which look most closely to resemble peacocks or possible butterflies in their uniquely minimalist structure for such a piece. The accent colors are equally maximized and vibrant to the red ground, ranging from bright blues to warm golds and greens, all revelling in the silks’ gentle, natural sheen and its subtle-meets-elegant play of the light in any space.
