Showcasing a bold expressive design, incredible detail and texture, this hand knotted wool vintage Berber Beni M'Guild Moroccan rug is a captivating vision of woven beauty. The eye-catching diamond trellis and vibrant colors woven into this vintage Moroccan rug work together creating a truly unique look. The abrashed red field features an all-over lozenge lattice composed of latch hooked lines and concentric diamonds decorated with lozenges, cross motifs, X-shapes, and ambiguous tribal symbols, adding visual interest and depth. It is enclosed with a tribal border displaying X-shapes, eight-point stars, diamonds, and ram's horn motifs. Historical richness and full of Ancient Berber symbolism, this vintage Beni M'Guild rug features traditional symbols of protection and femininity in the central area while the borders along the vertical sides traditionally represent the male's presence. In Moroccan rugs, male motifs often appear on the outer portions of the composition, framing and enclosing the female motifs. This presentation can be seen as symbolizing fertility, as well as protection and the sanctuary of the family. The amalgamation of colors harmonize one another, creating the perfect design and emanating function and versatility while staying true to the authentic spirit of Berber Tribe culture.
