Exceptional vintage Tuareg mat, handmade in the 1980s in Mauritania by the nomadic tribes of the Sahara. This impressive piece (500 x 280 cm) is composed of thin natural rush elements, joined and decorated with strips of leather, according to an ancient technique handed down for generations.
Tuareg mats were used inside traditional tents to protect against heat and sand while serving as a decorative and symbolic element. The geometric patterns engraved in the leather express the spiritual and tribal language of the Tuareg culture, making each piece unique.
This mat stands out for its generous proportions, natural palette, and authentic charm. Perfect for ethnic, minimalist or contemporary settings. In good vintage condition, not restored.
