Large beige black Moroccan Amazigh Beni Ourain rug North African tribal design - Djoharian Collection Berber rugs and carpets are mainly made in Morocco, Tunesia and Algeria. Largest producer are the tribal and nomadic Berber people of Morocco. Different areas produce very beautiful works of art. This large sized beige ground Berber rug comes from Morocco, North Africa. This stunning piece of art was hand knotted with tribal diamond designs. This type of rug is hard to find in this length since there are only few large looms that make these sizes in rural areas. The classic diamond design of these Berber rugs inspired many modern European artists who visited Moroccan in the first half of the 20th century. The condition of the rug is good with little wear and some old restorations. We acquired a number of stunning pieces in perfect condition from a collector in Morocco. The rugs were decorating a villa that was only used during vacation. As a result of this rare use, they are in exquisite condition - very hard to find these days. Origin: Morocco Pile material: fine hand-spun wool Structure: high, plush pile Colors: beige / wool white, black Design: Traditional Length: 18 ft / 545 cm Width: 3.2 ft / 95 cm Interior designers welcome. Influence of North African Rugs on European Modern Art. These abstract designs had a great influence on European Modern Art. An initial date was a travel to Tunis in the year 1914. Paul Klee, August Macke and Louis Moilliet visited Tunesia and their Artworks after that trip showed many new inspirations in abstract design. We recommend a book published in 2013 titled "Marokkanische Teppiche und die Kunst der Moderne" if you are interested in learning about the interaction of Moroccan / North African Art and Modern Art. The Orient had a lasting fascination for painters in Europe. The paintings "View of Tangier" and "Moroccan Landscape" by Eugène Delacroix date from the 19th century. Henri Matisse and Wassily Kandinsky were other painters who prepared the terrain for Paul Klee's trips to Tunis (1914) and Egypt (1928). Important Shipping Information: All of our rugs are shipped directly from Germany. The displayed sale price includes all applicable taxes and tariffs for customers within the European Union. For buyers outside the European Union: Please note that you will be charged separately for any applicable import taxes, tariffs, and customs duties levied by your respective country upon delivery. These charges are not included in the purchase price. Fair Trade: We are licensed FAIR-TRADE partner of LABEL STEP FAIR TRADE CARPETS.
