Origin: Morocco Size: 300 x 200 cm / 9.6 x 6.6 ft, fringes / tassels on one side Pile material: fine hand-spun wool Structure: Soft and with a high, plush pile - soft wool Colors: beige, sage Design: Modern Age: New Condition: Unused This is a wonderful high end quality piece from Morocco. Interior designers welcome. Influence of North African Rugs on European Modern Art. These abstract designs had a great influence on European Modern Art. An initial date was a travel to Tunis in the year 1914. Paul Klee, August Macke and Louis Moilliet visited Tunisia and their Artworks after that trip showed many new inspirations in abstract design. We recommend a book published in 2013 titled "Marokkanische Teppiche und die Kunst der Moderne" if you are interested in learning about the interaction of Moroccan / North African Art and Modern Art. The Orient had a lasting fascination for painters in Europe. The paintings "View of Tangier" and "Moroccan Landscape" by Eugène Delacroix date from the 19th century. Henri Matisse and Wassily Kandinsky were other painters who prepared the terrain for Paul Klee's trips to Tunis (1914) and Egypt (1928). The Djoharian Design Collection is located in Germany, all our rugs are shipped from there. We are licensed FAIR-TRADE partner of LABEL STEP FAIR TRADE CARPETS.
