About the Item
Original 1960s Tuareg mat from Mauritania, made entirely by hand from woven reed and leather strips. This extraordinary example of Saharan craftsmanship combines functionality and aesthetic refinement, with tribal geometric patterns etched into the natural fiber. Tuareg mats were traditionally used to cover the floors of nomadic tents, providing insulation and beauty. The large size (445×200 cm) makes this vintage rug perfect for design environments, showrooms or luxury hotels, as a floor rug or wall covering. Warm, earthy tones, achieved with natural hues, evoke the atmosphere of the African desert. In good condition, showing only slight signs of wear consistent with age. It has not undergone restoration. Each item is unique, the result of Berber culture and its thousand-year-old tradition. Selected by Afolki with direct sourcing in North Africa, this mat is an authentic work of art for those seeking luxurious, authentic and timeless ethnic furnishings.
