About the Item

North African Moroccan Berber Rug Wool White Orange hand knotted - Sabah Collection Berber rugs and carpets are mainly made in Morocco, Tunesia and Algeria. Largest producer are the tribal and nomadic Berber people of Morocco. Different areas produce very beautiful works of art. This rug was made in a village in the Atlas Mountains, Southeast of the towns of Casablanca and Meknes. The wool from this region is well known for its fine quality and luster. Origin: Morocco Pile material: Fine hand-spun wool Weft material: Fine hand-spun wool Warp material: Fine hand-spun wool Structure: Soft and with a high, plush pile - super soft wool Colors: Wool white and orange This is from our current production and can be produced on order in your demanded size. Interior designers welcome. Also in stock: 10 x 7 ft, 13.5 x 10 ft with same design. For this collection we use extremely fine wool, haptic like Merino or Cashmere. Due to the plush and long pile fibers, the rug will shed at the beginning. This is normal for rugs in this type of construction. Influence of North African Rugs on European Modern Art. These abstract designs had a great influence on European Modern Art. An initial date was a travel to Tunis in the year 1914. Paul Klee, August Macke and Louis Moilliet visited Tunesia and their Artworks after that trip showed many new inspirations in abstract design. We recommend a book published in 2013 titled "Marokkanische Teppiche und die Kunst der Moderne" if you are interested in learning about the interaction of Moroccan / North African Art and Modern Art. The Orient had a lasting fascination for painters in Europe. The paintings "View of Tangier" and "Moroccan Landscape" by Eugène Delacroix date from the 19th century. Henri Matisse and Wassily Kandinsky were other painters who prepared the terrain for Paul Klee's trips to Tunis (1914) and Egypt (1928). Important Shipping Information: All of our rugs are shipped directly from Germany. The displayed sale price includes all applicable taxes and tariffs for customers within the European Union. For buyers outside the European Union: Please note that you will be charged separately for any applicable import taxes, tariffs, and customs duties levied by your respective country upon delivery. These charges are not included in the purchase price. Fair Trade: We are licensed FAIR-TRADE partner of LABEL STEP FAIR TRADE CARPETS.
