80996 Organic Brutalist Moroccan Rug, 08'10 x 11'05.
Emanating the softer side of Brutalism with incredible detail and varied textures, this high-low Moroccan rug is an amalgam of International style and the very definition of celebrated and spirited high end art. The visual complexity and earthy colorway woven into this piece work together creating a truly one-of-a-kind look. A dark gray striated backdrop sets the scene for the checkered design. The low pile gray squares alternate with the raised beige cubes across the composition forming a checkerboard pattern. Superimposed brown horizontal lines dash across each row cultivating an esoteric juxtaposition among the geometric design.
Recalling the Brutalist influence of mid-century designer Harry Bertoia (1915-1978) combined with organic modern style, this textured Moroccan rug is the epitome of bold visual tension and subsuming beauty. Due to an artful balance of conceptual design elements and earth-tone colors, this modern area rug is capable of a variety of successful design applications and would be particularly at home in an interior inspired by Mies van der Rohe, Alvar Aalto, or Le Corbusier. Whether or not this style speaks to you depends on your response to uninhibited, raw, and geometric forms of art.
