This hand-knotted wool 10x13 Moroccan rug by Rug
Kilim represents an exciting new line of modern tribal rugs. Each piece in this line is handmade by some of the most devoted nomadic weavers in rural Morocco, both keeping a rich tradition alive and helping it to flourish with new possibilities today.
On the Design:
This piece plays a minimalist border with Art Deco style geometric patterns on an open field. Black and gray background tones underscore notes of orange, beige, purple and rust tones in a wavy-meets-architectural drawing style. It’s a feat that marries modernism and primitivism in subversive, yet complementary fashion that captures the best of both. So, too, does it contribute a large scale and detail never-before seen in Moroccan rugs by tribal weavers. Both these elements speak to the soul of this collection—a contribution of current capabilities to a time-honored weaving tradition.
