Vintage Tuareg mat handmade in the 1980s in Mauritania by the nomadic tribes of the Sahara. Composed of thin strips of rush joined by strips of natural leather, this mat reflects a craftsmanship technique passed down through generations.
Originally used as ground coverings in Tuareg tents, these mats offered protection from heat and sand, combining functionality and decoration. The geometric patterns engraved in the leather express symbols specific to Saharan culture and spirituality.
The generous size (375 x 210 cm), flexible structure and textured design make this piece ideal for modern settings, ethnic spaces, galleries or covered terraces.
In good vintage condition, not restored.
