Kilim’s collection of rare works in this weaving tradition; the legacy of one of the most sought-after Moroccan floor covering provenances among designers and collectors today.
On the Design:
Admirers of the craft will especially appreciate Tuareg mats as distinct works with their own rich history and unique craftsmanship. This design is also one of few in its kind to favor a minimalist approach to the primitivist Berber geometric patterns, specifically tribal motifs in warm, light gold and earthy tan tones with a natural sense of depth and arresting dimensionality against the more neutral chocolate brown ground. The large size and particular scale further suggest an intricate work—likely made by two or more weavers with meticulous detail. It’s as much a collectible piece of folk art and nomadic culture as a comfortable, durable floor covering today.
