This rare Tuareg mat was handmade in the Sahara in the 1950s by nomadic artisans of the Tuareg people. Made of palm wood strips woven and sewn with strips of natural leather, it is a magnificent example of traditional Saharan craftsmanship.
Used inside nomadic tents as flooring to insulate against heat and sand, Tuareg mats also have deep symbolic value. The geometric patterns engraved in the leather-such as lozenges and crosses-reflect the spirituality and tribal identity of this millennial people.
With harmonious dimensions (467×205 cm), this mat lends itself perfectly to modern interiors, showrooms, photo sets or covered terraces. Its textural and timeless design brings elegance and authenticity to any space.
In good vintage condition, with marks consistent with age and use. Unrestored.
