About the Item

Vintage Tuareg mat hand-knotted in the 1980s in Mauritania, in the heart of the Sahara Desert. This unique piece is woven with strips of natural reed and sewn with strips of goatskin, according to traditional techniques passed down orally for generations. Originally used as a rug in nomadic tents, it offered insulation from sand and heat. Geometric patterns, typical of Tuareg aesthetics, tell symbols of protection and harmony, transforming the mat into an authentic and meaningful decorative element. Perfect for contemporary or boho-chic spaces, it can be used as a floor rug, wall installation or textural accent piece. Any imperfection, discoloration, or irregularity is a sign of time and enriches its historical value. Imported into Italy by Afolki, which guarantees its ethical provenance and authenticity, this mat is a rare item, carefully selected for collectors and lovers of ethnic design.
