About the Item

A rare and collectible V’Soske Architectural Rug, designed in 1986, this exceptional piece exemplifies the Modernist Art Deco Revival aesthetic that defined V’Soske’s pioneering approach to architectural textile design. Known for their collaborations with leading architects and designers, V’Soske rugs are celebrated for their museum-quality craftsmanship, with works featured in prestigious institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum, and formerly, the White House. This handmade wool rug showcases a sophisticated patchwork composition, integrating geometric forms, octothorpe (“hashtag”) motifs, scrolling X patterns, and other intricate abstract symbols, all rendered in a refined palette of brown, gold, blue, caramel, pink, and cream. The design is framed by a bold brown border adorned with stylized wave motifs, lending the piece a dynamic and architectural presence. Stamped with “COPYRIGHT V’SOSKE” on the underside and featuring its original manufacturer label dated June 16, 1986, this rug remains a true collector’s piece, reflecting V’Soske’s legacy in modern textile innovation.
