Mid-19th Century Pair of N.W. Persian Bakshaiesh Carpets ( 3' x 15'9" - 91 x 480 )
Pair of runners in neutrals and browns with blue accents. The field is filled with an intricate diamond shaped lattice repeat pattern - each section with it's own small flower.
Three small minor borders are densely filled, while the mostly open outer border is adorned with spaciously floating boteh (paisley). This outer major border creates contrast and juxtaposition of scale from the more densely filled areas of the carpets. A unique point of interest.
There is a down to earth appeal to the runners, that is casual and comfortable. The pieces can be used together to fill a long hallway space in lieu of one long hallway runner.
