About the Item
The subtly variegated camel field displays a beautifully drawn array of cypresses, vases, flowering shrubs and decorative floriate branches. The inscription reads “Castelli-Kazan” two important carpet trading firms in the early 20th century. The midnight blue main border connects fantastic palmettes with double red feathers. The carpet, from the early decades of the 20th century, is very well woven with excellent pile wool, and is in fine condition.
This Early 20th Century Persian Sarouk Mohajeran carpet showcases the timeless artistry and elegance of one of Persia’s most distinguished weaving traditions. Woven circa 1950, the piece features a camel ground filled with an intricate array of floral sprays, vines, and stylized medallions, demonstrating both precision and decorative richness. The deep blue border, adorned with rosettes and meandering vines, provides a striking frame that enhances the balance and symmetry of the design.
Sarouk Mohajeran carpets are celebrated for their durability and refined craftsmanship, making them not only a stunning focal point but also a valuable heirloom piece. With its generous proportions, this carpet is perfectly suited for a formal living room, dining area, or library, where its elegance and history can be fully appreciated.
