1920s Persian Sarouk Mohajeran Carpet ( 8'10" x 19' - 269 x 579 cm )
This is not your ordinary interwar Sarouk carpet. The poly-chrome tile pattern has been artistically adapted from contemporary Bakhtiari weaving's, but disciplined and formalized . Of particular interest are the weeping willow panels. Yellow is skillfully used here and this is not a hue generally associated with Sarouk rug from western Persia. The royal blue border of larger and smaller palmettes is very much in the Sarouk style in this 1920s carpet in excellent condition.
This 1920s Persian Sarouk Mohajeran carpet is an exquisite example of one of Persia’s most sought-after weaving traditions. Known for their refined artistry and durability, Mohajeran Sarouks from this period are highly prized by collectors.
The carpet displays an intricate allover lattice of floral sprays, boteh motifs, and stylized medallions woven in a rich, multicolored palette set against a warm ground. The navy border, adorned with rosettes and floral meanders, beautifully frames the composition, balancing vibrancy with elegance. Its large, elongated proportions make it ideal for a grand living room, formal dining space, or gallery setting.
