About the Item

A masterwork of 19th-century Persian weaving, this exceptional antique Bidjar rug dates to the third quarter of the 1800s. The rug features an extremely rare cream-toned field, adorned with a crisply articulated Herati geometric pattern—a hallmark of classical Persian design, rendered here with striking clarity and balance. A commanding navy blue central medallion, executed in a larger-scale geometric motif, anchors the composition, while the corner spandrels display bold, angular designs in green, blue, and red, adding depth and visual movement. Framing the composition is a rich rust-red border, providing warmth and contrast while emphasizing the architectural strength of the design. The saturated yet harmonious palette—brick red, navy, turquoise, and green—creates a sense of grandeur without excess. Celebrated for their exceptionally dense weave and near-indestructible construction, antique Persian Bidjar rugs are often referred to as the “iron rugs of Persia.” Dimensions: 7’ 4” x 11’ 11” Date of Manufacture: 4th Quarter of the 1800s Place of Origin: NW Persia Material: Wool pile on a wool foundation with natural vegetable dyes Condition: Wear consistent with age and use The Persian Knot Gallery, SKU: 1296 19th century Persian Bidjar rug, antique Bidjar rug, Persian Bidjar carpet, cream field Bidjar rug, Herati pattern Persian rug, antique Persian geometric rug, 19th century Persian carpet, navy medallion Bidjar rug, brick red Persian rug, collectible Persian rugs, museum quality Persian rug, antique rugs for interior designers, rare Persian Bidjar rug, Reducing Climate Change, Sustainable Living, Upcycling Handwoven Rugs, Reusing Vintage Rugs, Reducing Carbon Footprint.
