A stunning late 19th century Persian Lavar Kirman pictorial rug depicting a seated Gonabadi Dervish, a Sufi order originating in the 14th century whose followers believe in peace, security, equality, and shun violence and politics. The Dervish is holding a pomegranate in one hand, is holding an incense burner in the other, and is seated under a blossoming trees. This rug is hand woven in myriad colors including cream, white, pink, indigo, and brown wool.
