About the Item

A magnificent masterpiece from the golden age of Persian weaving with this Late 19th century Persian Kerman Lavar rug hand woven by the master artisans of the village of Lavar in Kerman Province. This exceptional piece hails from the 3rd or 4th quarter of the 1800s. Kerman Lavar carpets are world-renowned for their unparalleled beauty, intricate designs, and masterful use of color, qualities that this carpet represents to perfection. This rug features a wonderful classic design reminiscent of 16th-century rugs, embodying a sense of timeless elegance and historical depth. The color combination is astonishingly beautiful, with the field rendered in a rich antique red, a hue that provides a sophisticated and warm backdrop. At the heart of the design is a stunning central medallion in luminous French blue and pale pink, creating a captivating focal point. The corners of the field are articulated with elegant corner spandrels in complementary shades of pale yellow and French blue. Throughout the field and border, a graceful pattern of scrolling lines, delicate leaves, and intricate flowers weaves a tapestry of unparalleled detail. The rug is exquisitely framed by a set of beautiful borders. The primary border is a soft and elegant pale yellow, while the secondary borders are in a cool and serene turquoise blue. Adding to its historical significance and collectibility, the weaver's signature is meticulously woven into the rug, a rare and cherished mark of the artisan's pride and skill.
