51634 Late 19th Century Antique Persian Kurdish Rug, 09'07 x 13'04. Persian Kurdish rugs, hailing from Kurdish regions predominantly in Iran but also found in segments of Iraq, Turkey, and Syria, are revered for their exceptional quality, artisanal craftsmanship, and one-of-a-kind designs. Meticulously handwoven using premium wool, these rugs boast striking geometric patterns and lively hues obtained from natural dyes, serving as poignant reflections of the weavers' deep-seated cultural roots and enduring traditions. Celebrated for their robustness and endurance, these rugs incorporate symbolic motifs that embody concepts such as fertility and safeguarding, imbuing them with both aesthetic beauty and practical utility. As such, they transcend mere floor coverings, elevating spaces with their warmth, charm, and cultural significance.
Exuding timeless elegance and evoking a sense of nostalgic charm, this hand-knotted wool antique Persian Kurdish rug serves as a versatile addition that seamlessly harmonizes with modern, contemporary, and traditional interiors alike. The rich midnight navy blue field, with its abrashed texture adding depth and character, serves as the backdrop for an enchanting all-over Herati pattern. Angular florals and foliage, adorned with serrated edges, grace each corner spandrel in contrasting hues, showcasing the intricate craftsmanship and attention to detail inherent in Persian rug making.
At the heart of the rug lies the Classic Herati design, also known as the Mahi or fish pattern, a beloved motif steeped in Persian heritage and symbolism. This iconic design features a central flower nestled within a diamond shape, surrounded by curving lanceolate leaves that evoke the graceful movement of fish, symbolizing abundance and fertility. Encircling the Herati pattern is a repeating tree of life border, flanked by an inner guard border and a triple outer guard border, adding a sense of symmetry and balance to the rug's overall composition.
With its perfectly worn-in charm and understated elegance, this large antique Persian rug...

Antique Long Navy Blue Gold Brown Northwest Persian Runner Rug c. 1880-1900
Located in New York, NY
“Northwest” refers to a diverse group of antique Persian rugs in myriad weaving villages and encampments that during the 19th century occupied an expansive wilderness area west of Tehran, north of Bijar, and south of Tabriz. These villages borrowed patterns and weaving styles from a scope of different areas and influences, combing them into something unmistakably unique. Many smaller rug weaving villages, too numerous to name, also contribute to the broad treasure trove of carpets from this area. All of these largely unknown villages...

Antique Navy Geometric Persian Heriz Long
Narrow Runner Rug 2.9 x 18.4 ft.
Located in New York, NY
Heriz rugs are one of the most famous rugs from Iran, because of their very unique and distinguishable style. Heriz is a city located in northwestern Iran, near the city of Tabriz, which is a major rug-weaving center in Iran. Most often, Heriz rugs have oversized geometric medallions, that are crisply delineated against a rich red, rust or dark blue field.
The pattern is almost always geometric, although some Heriz rugs have an all-over layout often together with geometric floral motives and less frequently curvilinear floral motives. Since the Heriz region is not too far from the Caucasus, many Heriz carpets have similar colors and drawings to Caucasian rugs. The most common colors are brownish red, light and dark pink, light and dark blue, greens, yellows and ivory. Blue and ivory are normally added to increase contrast.
This is a lovely rare narrow antique brown and navy Heriz...
