This antique, circa 1930, Persian Heriz rug has a soft tomato-red field with an angular polychrome floral and leafy vine around a central charcoal-black lozenge medallion with palmette pendants containing a central tomato-red lozenge medallion with a central rosette issuing angular floral motifs outlined in a caramel narrow stripe and surrounded by further floral motifs, the ivory spandrels each with bold serrated polychrome leaves and inward facing flowerhead surrounded by a broad red and sky-blue serrated part-lozenges all surrounded by a further sky-blue serrated band enclosing charcoal-black serrated leaves, in a broad charcoal-black border of polychrome turtle-palmettes linked by angular palmette and floral vines between pistachio-yellow floral vine stripes.
