Hand knotted antique Heriz rug, woven in Iran circa 1920.
This antique Heriz rug features a bold central medallion set within a rich rust red field, surrounded by angular floral and geometric motifs characteristic of early 20th century Heriz weaving. Accents of navy blue, light blue, ivory, and soft beige articulate the strong architectural drawing and create clear contrast throughout the composition. A wide navy and ivory border frames the rug, filled with repeating rosettes and stylized floral elements that reinforce the rug’s balanced, structured layout.
Woven from wool on a cotton foundation, the rug has a firm, durable structure and a solid handle, reflecting the strength and longevity traditionally associated with Heriz carpets.
