Beautiful Gallery Size Antique Persian Bidjar Rug, Country of Origin / Rug Type: Antique Persian Rugs, Circa Date: 1900 – This magnificent gallery-sized rug from Bidjar is impressive for its size and a spectacular all-over pattern. At the turn of the century when this rug was created, Bidjar was a small city of about 20,000 people. It is in a flat, dusty area of northwestern Persia. During this time, it was home to many smaller workshops. They are known for their larger pieces that were often commissioned by wealthy clientele and the Persian nobility. Larger carpets were woven at the family level with each member of the family taking part in its creation, even the small children, as they were being taught the craft. Bidjar rugs are known for their excellent wear qualities that are a result of durable wool produced in the local area. This rug uses earthy tones and spicy reds to create a design that is breathtaking and would be the perfect complement to any space that is large enough to accommodate it. Spicy reds that are reminiscent of the many spices and wares traded along the famous Silk Road are popular in interior design this year. Other popular choices are the colors of earth and sand. This rug shows the precision of a well-trained artist with skilled hands. It has a fine knot count, which allows it to achieve incredible levels of detail.
