Hand knotted in wool, a 9x11 antique Heriz rug originating from Persia circa 1920-1930 making a grand entry to Rug
Kilim’s Antique
Vintage collection. Bearing fine Persian sensibilities of the early 19th century, the rug witnesses a scintillating show of geometry that manifests as a well defined medallion pattern with symmetric and well planned striations. The border and corners exhibit similar regularities in geometric design to seamlessly blend with the theme. The piece flourishes in dark blue and brick red accenting to sky blue, aqua green and beige. Connoisseurs may note the presence of black on one of the borders—quite unusual for a drawing in this style. A piece thriving in good condition, well suited for classic projects, living rooms or curators with an eye for geometry. Further motifs of note include the crab palmette floral pattern, assorted gul patterns, rosettes, cartouche references, and several serrated leaves in the spandrels beautifully bringing out the pink accents against the richer hues of this rare Oriental rug.
