About the Item
An early second quarter 20th century Persian Karajeh carpet. The Karajeh Heriz weaving district is about 40 miles east of Tabriz, Iran. Heriz is the largest of the weaving towns. Most of these rugs feature a central geometric medallion surrounded by a lighter field within a geometric design scheme. Heriz rugs are thought to have a more geometric rendering and Tabriz rugs being more curvilinear. Heriz rugs feature some of the most vibrant and interesting colors such as sky blue, deep rust, dark green, magenta, ivory and yellow. Beautiful Heriz rugs have designs with a crisp look due to the design elements being outlined with contrasting colors.
