About the Item
Of Laver (Lavar) quality, this well-woven SE Persian city carpet displays a coral field closely covered by an all-over pattern of large octofoil and quatrefoil stars enclosing palmettes with ivory, pale blue, pistachio, navy among the detail tones in a very wide palette characteristic of the best antique Kerman work. The five-fold border shows arabesques, petal palmettes, acanthus leaves and rinceaux on cochineal red, cream and navy. The pattern is perfectly balanced in all four direction. This is a very attractive antique piece in quite good condition with well-preserved colors in an unusual format.
