Extremely Decorative and Beautiful Large Scale Antique Persian Khorassan Rug, Country Of Origin: Persia, Circa Date: 1910. Size: 11 ft 8 in x 17 ft 9 in (3.56 m x 5.41 m)
This gorgeous, neutral Khorassan carpet was created around 1910 and is an excellent example of the work that made this carpet manufacturing center famous. Khorassan carpets were of such high quality that the name became associated with fine carpets. However, an authentic Khorassan carpet is a real treasure.
One thing that makes Khorassan carpets special is the delicateness and intricacy of the design. In this piece, some elements are only indicated by a fine line. To produce work with this high level of detail requires a high knot count and a high level of skill. This also creates an antique carpet that is soft underfoot and has a supple feel.
The carpet is a central medallion design that is created in such a way that the design seems to flow gracefully from the center. The design subtle and created using gentle colors that are calm and soothing.
