About the Item
This magnificent carpet is handwoven in the northwest region of Persia in the town of Heriz/Serapi. Serapi carpets structure consist of a single cotton warp and double cotton weft and knots are Turkish.
The huge off center medallion in indigo blue surrounded by simple, angular vines and spandrels within a samovar border. The pile is left long. The rust /red field of the rug complimented with a very rare subdued tone on the corner. The bold design is handsomely adorned with many geometric devices, yet the field is not crowded . The wool used to make this carpet is of high quality and dyed with all organic elements. The knots are very fine for a Heriz/Serapi rug and the feel is rather floppy. Professional and expert restorations performed on this carpet and otherwise is in very good condition.
